Begun in 1965, the Laurelwood Garden Club aims to help beautify the city of Fitchburg an introduce the pleasure of gardening to the residents of North Central Massachusetts. We currently have members who live in Ashburnham, Fitchburg, Lancaster, Leominster, Lunenburg and Shirley.
The Club meets on the second Friday of each month from 9:30 am.m to 12 noon at the Fitchburg Art Museum. Membership dues are $15.00 per year.
The Club is affiliated with the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts and the National Garden Clubs.

Laurelwood Garden Club Activities
Each year the Club conducts civic gardening projects in the City of Fitchburg. In 2010 and 2011 the Club planted 1,000 daffodil bulbs near the Philip J. Philbin Federal Building, Fitchburg Public Library, Monument Park, Emile Goguen Park, and Fire Captain James V. Belliveau Memorial Park.
In partnership with the Fitchburg Art Museum, the Club co-organizes the annual “Art in Bloom” exhibition at the Museum.

The Laurelwood Garden Club scholarship, which carries an award of $500, is open each year to college-bound area residents who plan on continuing their education in any branch of botany, environmental issues, floral design, gardening, horticulture, or landscape design.
Other activities include hands-on workshops and gardening presentations by regional expects, as well as field trips to local botanical gardens and flower shows.
