The Gardening Consultants Council is comprised of members who have completed four courses of Gardening Study School, sponsored by the National Garden Clubs, Inc. These courses are currently being held at Tower Hill Botanic Garden in West Boylston, MA. The school brings to its students a clear understanding of the arts and sciences of gardening. It endeavors to teach the methodologies of caring for the land and the biology of requirement of plants. The lecturers are professionals with extensive knowledge and the ability to explain their topics. Students can become provisional members of the council after passing two courses; dues are currently $10. The Council meets three or more times a year, and offers day trips to regional gardens and nurseries in the New England states, as well as lectures and other learning opportunities from professional and amateur horticulturists.
Volunteer officers generally serve on the board for two-year terms, and the annual meeting for election of officers is held in the spring. The Council is an excellent venue for novices and experienced gardeners to enrich their gardening experience.
